About the Tutors
Daniel grew up in LaGrange, Georgia where he was home schooled K-12 and had the privilege to study under Wes Callihan (Schola Classical Tutorials) throughout high school. He and his wife now live near Greenville, South Carolina. In his free time, Daniel enjoys music (classical guitar, piano, and occasional bouts of accordion), poetry, camping, and dabbling in languages.
Daniel did his graduate work at St. John’s College, Annapolis, where he earned an M.A. in Liberal Arts (2013). His undergraduate work was done at LaGrange College, in LaGrange, Georgia, where he earned a B.A. in English, a B.A. in Music, and minored in Philosophy (2010). Daniel’s Philosophy minor was awarded in recognition of his studies at Oxford University, UK, where for a term he studied Ancient Philosophy and Philosophical Hermeneutics (2009).
Daniel’s teaching experience includes Artios Academies (Worldview, Guitar) and the Greenville Classical Academy (Medieval Literature, Logic, Apologetics). Currently, he teaches in the Memoria Press Online Academy (Literature, Composition, Logic, Classical Rhetoric, Physics, and Algebra).
Haley Batchelor Maycock was born and raised in LaGrange, Georgia where she was homeschooled by her parents. Upon graduation
from high school, Haley enrolled at Berry College where she majored in history and minored in dance. During her senior year, Haley studied abroad at the University of Oxford where she studied Dadaism and worldview progressions with Summit Ministries. Haley graduated in the fall of 2014, a semester ahead of her peers. She married her husband, Daniel Maycock, the same year and moved to Greenville, South Carolina.
Haley gained teaching experience in middle and high school as a dance teacher for all types of children. As a fourteen-year-old, she started her own dance initiative for the homeschool community in her town. By the time she graduated high school, Haley was teaching 40 students per week. During the summers of her college experience, Haley worked as a camp counselor in the wilderness of Camp Marannook in LaFayette, Alabama. Since completing her undergraduate work, Haley has begun teaching for Carolina Dance Collaborative, a dance group that teaches dance and dance history to special needs adults, homeschoolers, underprivileged children, and others.
As a history major, Haley became extremely interested in the early 20th century. To her, it seemed as if all the bad worldview trends of the 19th century had exploded into violence in the 20th. Haley hopes to help her students make the same history-to-worldview connections she discovered in college and perhaps make some new ones as well.
